Family, friends, and members of the St. Martinville, Louisiana, community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Randall P. Belaire, 26, whose life was tragically cut short in a fatal crash on Interstate 55 near Louisiana Highway 442 in Tangipahoa Parish late Friday night. His unexpected passing has left loved ones devastated as they remember a young man whose life ended far too soon.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. on July 17, 2026. Troopers with Troop L responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a 2026 Kia Carnival and a disabled 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was stopped on the right shoulder of Interstate 55 with its hazard lights activated.
Preliminary findings indicate that the Kia, driven by 27-year-old Brianna L. Hutson of Magnolia, Mississippi, traveled off the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation before striking the rear of the disabled Chevrolet. The force of the collision caused catastrophic damage to both vehicles and prompted a large emergency response.
Authorities said the driver of the Chevrolet and three passengers, all of whom were wearing seat belts, sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Hutson and a front-seat passenger in the Kia, who were also properly restrained, suffered minor injuries and were hospitalized.
Randall Belaire, an unrestrained rear-seat passenger in the Kia, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of emergency responders.
During the investigation, state police reported that Hutson displayed signs of impairment. Following medical clearance from a local hospital, she was arrested and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Correctional Facility. She faces charges including vehicular homicide, five counts of vehicular negligent injuring, careless operation, and open container. Investigators also collected routine toxicology samples as part of the ongoing investigation.
