With tremendous sadness and heavy hearts, the East Goshen Township community is mourning the passing of Mark Miller, a longtime Director of Public Works, dedicated first responder, and respected community leader, who passed away on July 19, 2026, at the age of 66. His death marks the loss of a remarkable individual whose service, leadership, and kindness left an unforgettable impact on countless lives.
Born on January 9, 1960, Mark dedicated much of his life to serving others. Throughout his years with East Goshen Township, he became more than a public servant—he became a trusted friend, mentor, and an essential part of the community he proudly served. His commitment to improving the township and supporting those around him earned him the admiration and respect of coworkers, residents, and community members alike.
Mark was remembered as a true “salt of the earth” person—someone who led with humility, compassion, and a strong sense of responsibility. He believed no task was too large and no job was too small. Whether working alongside his team, helping solve problems, or simply offering guidance and encouragement, Mark consistently showed his dedication to others.
During his tenure as Director of Public Works, Mark played a vital role in building and strengthening the department he loved. His leadership helped shape what many proudly described as one of the finest Public Works teams in Chester County and the surrounding region. He cared deeply about his employees, supporting their growth and creating a culture built on teamwork, respect, and service.
Beyond his work with East Goshen Township, Mark was also a devoted first responder and longtime member of the West Whiteland Fire Company. Over the decades, he served the organization with dedication and commitment, including as Past Chief Officer and as the company’s current Vice President. His service reflected his lifelong passion for protecting and helping others.
Those who knew Mark will remember his generosity, reliability, and unwavering willingness to step forward whenever he was needed. He was the kind of person who quietly made a difference every day, leaving behind a legacy built not only through his accomplishments but through the relationships he formed and the lives he touched.
Mark’s passing represents a tremendous loss for his family, friends, coworkers, the fire service community, and the entire East Goshen Township community.
